Loma Linda University School of Pharmacy (LLUSP) Department of Pharmacy Practice is seeking outstanding, forward-thinking applicants with a commitment to excellence and innovation in teaching, practice, research, service and administration to apply for the position of Chair, Department of Pharmacy Practice.


The Chair serves by appointment from the Dean as the senior administrator of the department. This individual has responsibilities for the development of the strategic vision and direction of the department, as well as providing leadership in the recruitment, mentoring and retention of faculty and staff appointed to that department. The Chair represents the department to the school, university, community, and external stakeholders. The Chair also serves as part of the executive administrative team through service on the Executive Committee, and active participation in accreditation, institutional planning, implementation and assessment activities for the school and university.

LLUSP was established in 2002 and recently celebrated its 750th graduate at the 2017 commencement ceremony. LLUSP is located in the Inland Empire of Southern California along with seven other schools on the Loma Linda University (LLU) campus. Interprofessional education and events occur among students and clinicians from the schools of pharmacy, dentistry, medicine, nursing, and other healthcare professionals. LLUSP is affiliated with Loma Linda University Medical Center (LLUMC) and its other affiliated inpatient and outpatient institutions. LLUMC is a major teaching institution for LLU Schools of Medicine, Pharmacy, Nursing, and many other professional programs within LLU. Each year, the institution admits more than 33,000 inpatients and serves approximately half a million outpatients.

Job Requirements:

Academic experience to merit an initial academic appointment at the rank of either Associate Professor or Professor
Terminal Doctor of Pharmacy degree (i.e., PharmD)
Current California Registered Pharmacist Licensure (or eligibility for licensure in the State of California)
Completion of a PGY1 residency program
Documented significant accomplishments in teaching and research at a level to be appointed Chair of the Department.
Relevant experience in pharmacy education and research with administrative experience
Strong interpersonal written and verbal communication skills
Strong desire to serve within a faith-centered, Seventh-day Adventist institution
Completion of PGY2 residency and/or fellowship programs preferred or equivalent clinical training
Professional board certification in a specialty or other credentialing preferred
