Director of Research and Product Development Position Summary
The Product Manager is responsible for developing and implementing short term and long term product strategies for an allocated product portfolio, and delivering product sales and profitability in line with business targets. This role functions as an internal expert on our customers and the competition, achieving and maintaining that expertise via voice-of-customer activities and other market research. Assigned product categories focus primarily on information-based and/or subscription-based solutions that help businesses comply with State and/or Federal regulations relating to employment and workplace safety. This individual must be able to readily adapt to a fast-paced, transactional sales model and a rapidly changing regulatory environment. Required Experience
Must possess aBachelor’s Degree in an applicable field of education (marketing, business administration) and 2+ years of experience as a product manager in a business focused on at least one of the following market segments: Human Resource Managers
Small Business Owners / Operators
Office Managers Essential Duties and Responsibilities New product development (NPD) and new product introduction (NPI)
Functions as an expert on customers and competition
Identifies market problems and recommends solutions
Conducts primary market research via regular customer site visits, interviews, and surveys
Generates, collects, and documents ideas for new products
Manages assigned new product development projects, coordinating contributions from internal and external resources
Coordinates the execution of go-to-market activities on new products, including initial testing and launch.
Monitors and evaluates the competition
Develops and implements product pricing strategies
Organizes cross-functional teams for various planning and brainstorming activities
Forecasts sales of new and existing products
Creates and/or maintains sales support documents
