Description

Under the direction and general supervision of the Director of Advancement Services, the Prospect Researcher is responsible for identifying, collecting, organizing, analyzing, and disseminating information regarding issues of strategic importance in order to enhance the ability of development officers, senior faculty, and administrators to successfully acquire support for the activities of California Baptist University.

Job Requirements
✔ Develop, implement, and manage systems and procedures to meet the information needs of development staff, and other members of CBU such as Deans, the Associate Deans and faculty, in preparation for contacting, cultivating, and soliciting major gift prospects (individuals, corporations, and other organizations, such as foundations).
✔ Qualify major gift prospects by researching and analyzing individuals and corporate entities for: connections to CBU and to other organizations, giving potential, and propensity to donate in order to establish priorities and strategies for the successful solicitation of donors.
✔ Devise strategies for obtaining new prospects in order to ensure the ongoing development, expansion, and renewal of the prospect base, to which CBU will turn for current and future support.
✔ Prepare detailed and up-to-date research briefings on prospects and/or groups of prospects for development staff, senior faculty and administrators, in advance of calls and events in order to obtain optimal outcomes.
✔ Assist in the coordination of information resources, including identification and selection of sources of information and information vendors.
✔ Identify, research, and qualify major gift prospects. Provide concrete recommendations to development officers on prospect priorities.
✔ Maintains and manages solicitor lists within development database.
✔ Manage Proposals in database.
✔ Works with Director of Advancement Services to compile prospect management reports.
✔ Provide support and be able to fulfill the duties of the gift processor as needed.
✔ Update advancement database as needed.
✔ Maintains active membership in Association of Professional Researchers for Advancement (APRA) for both the International organization and the state chapter.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: This position has no supervisory role.

✔ Ability to coordinate and organize meetings.
✔ Knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting, and cost control procedures.
✔ Ability to interpret, adapt, and apply guidelines and procedures.
✔ Ability to create, compose, and edit written materials.
✔ Ability to make administrative/procedural decisions and judgments.
✔ Ability to generate and execute creative ideas, as well as be able to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, and sit; and requires sufficient hand, arm, and finger dexterity to operate computer keyboard or other office equipment. Requires visual acuity to read words and numbers; and speaking and hearing ability sufficient to communicate in person or over the phone. WORK ENVIRONMENT:
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Work normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment, with minimal exposure to health or safety hazards.
